The Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (IGETC – pronounced “eye-get-see”) is an educational plan for California community college students designed to facilitate transferring to a four-year public university including all UC and CSU schools. We assist students in working with college counselors at our partner colleges to develop a transfer plan to the CSU/UC campus of choice.
Requirements of the IGETC are:
- Area 1 – English Communication
- Area 2 – Mathematical Concepts and Quantitative Reasoning
- Area 3 – Arts and Humanities
- Area 4 – Social and Behavior Sciences
- Area 5 – Physical and Biological Sciences
California community college students may complete all of the 39 semester (58.5 quarter) units of lower-division courses for CSU GE-Breadth Requirements (for CSU only) or the Intersegmental General Education Transfer Curriculum (for both CSU and UC) at a California community college before transferring to a CSU campus.
California Community Colleges and other qualified institutions can certify completion of up to 39 lower-division semester (58.5 quarter) units applicable to GE-Breadth requirements or a total package of 37 semester (58.5 quarter)units for IGETC.
Assist.org is another resource that allows students to see how courses transfer from one college to another.
